Rain and Memory. November 2023
This project explores the idea of how weather influences our perception of memory. The series is inspired by photographs initially taken on an architectural field trip in November 20th 2018; a day spent in the lashing rain, touring around ancient Roman Architectural sites. A day that feels special and important in my memory. The fact that it was lashing rain, a circumstantial coincidence, completely changes the way that the memories of this day live in my mind. Exploring this idea five years later, I created artificial rain with a garden hose and some helpers in my back garden. The finished series explores the idea that photographs, like memories and perceptions; are often illusive.
